Everything Gold Will Stay, 2025
Glazed Paradise (Mark Jenkins & Sandra Fernandez)
Found objects
This project is about illuminating all the litter and eyesores around Los Angeles streets by painting it Gold. Gold with its visual appeal to humans inverts the eyesore into something valuable, a treasure. The title is a playful reference to the poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" which speaks to the ephemeral nature of Gold light in nature.
Glazed Paradis is leading a hands-on workshop this October 22 at 18th Street Art Center.
Mark and Sandra will share their sculpture-making techniques, followed by a roundtable discussion with uncommissioned artists and curator on public art—exploring how social practice continues to shape communities, and who gets to decide what stays in the public realm.
