Swinging Into Reality, 2025

Stephanie Brown

Engraved and hand painted swings

Swinging Into Reality, is an interactive installation that includes 5 swings engraved with one word on its base to collectively read 'All Men Are Created Equal'. This installation extends themes of justice and systematic inequality in America that began in Brown's artwork titled SEESAW.

Swinging Into Reality, is strategically installed at Gilly Brew Bar in Stone Mountain Village. This site is a 200 Year Old House built by slaves, and turned into a modern, Black-Owned Brew Bar. The location for this installation echoes and underscores the ideas behind Swinging Into Reality, serving as a reminder of our history and demonstrating examples of our progress despite the odds against marginalized groups in America.

About the Artist

Stephanie Brown is an Atlanta based photographer and interactive installation artist.
